COVID-19 Information & Meeting Dates  

STATEMENT FROM GOV. ISAIAH MOORE - Dec. 15, 2020

Dear delegates and advisors, 

 

We are happy to announce that there will be MIG and Moot Court in 2021!

While we are disappointed that we will not be able to meet in person at our state capitol this spring, we are proud to share that Model Illinois Government and Moot Court will be held fully online February 26th & 27th, 2021.

Opening ceremonies are planned to commence on Friday, February 26 at 11 a.m. via Zoom. The full conference schedule will be announced in the coming weeks. Delegation and Delegate registration is currently open at www.modelilgov.org/register. At this time, all usual delegate roles are planned to be made available for students.

The MIG Executive Board has voted to suspend the individual delegate fee, but institutions are asked to pay the $260 delegation fee at migpay.square.site before February 26 2021. Alternatively, Delegation Fees may be mailed to Professor Andy Schott Prairie State College 202 South Halsted Chicago Heights, IL 60422. Delegate registration and role selection must be completed by January 31.

All Delegates and Advisors are encouraged to attend the Meeting of the Whole on Sunday, January 31st at 1 p.m. over Zoom. At this meeting, the Executive Board will provide specifics on the rules and expectations of delegates to the 2021 MIG simulation, as well as run a virtual debate to familiarize students with the new format this year. Meeting links and passcodes, as well as all the latest updates on MIG 2021 are available at www.modelilgov.org/covid-19-information.
 

Please do not hesitate to reach out at governor@modelilgov.org with any questions or concerns. Even though MIG will look very different this year and will be a new experience for all, the full participation of all delegates will ensure we are able to come back stronger than ever when we can meet again in person.
 

We hope to convene in Springfield in person in the near future. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to seeing you over Zoom soon.

Model Illinois Government remains committed to remaining open and transparent to all students as we meet virtually to plan the 2021 simulation. As such, meetings are open for participation by all. The Executive Board will be holding meetings on the following dates:

ALL MEETINGS ARE BEING HELD THROUGH ZOOM UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE - Meeting links and passcode information will be posted on this page and on the official Model Illinois Government social media pages within 48 hours of the meeting.
